The Rotary Club of Rohnert Park - Cotati was chartered in 1977 by the Petaluma Valley Rotary Club.
Robert Tellander, a professor at Sonoma State University and member of the Petaluma Valley Rotary Club, was its charter president.
The first club project was the planting of trees at Rancho Cotate High School in Rohnert Park. Club members also assisted the City of Rohnert Park with the planting of redwood trees that now line the Rohnert Park Expressway and placed benches along the walkways bordering the expressway.
